Trust and Foundations

The Fruitmarket Gallery is grateful to a range of trusts, foundations and cultural bodies who have supported our creative programme of exhibitions, commissions, learning and interpretation.

We need the support of trusts and foundations to enable us to present a high quality and accessible programme to a wide range of people, for free.

Support allows us to give artists opportunities to make and present work without commercial pressure. It allows the Gallery to offer a range of initiatives, projects, events, materials and activities that enable audiences to deepen their engagement with art and new ideas.

We have received significant support from trusts and foundations, including the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, which established a three year commissioning and exhibitions programme of new work by Christine Borland, Alex Hartley, Mike Nelson, Lucy Skaer, Claire Barclay and Willie Doherty; and The Henry Moore Foundation, which has enabled us to bring important contemporary sculptural works to Scottish audiences, and to produce award-winning publications to sit alongside a number of exhibitions. This support has provided major opportunities for artists and audiences, helping to sustain Scotland as a viable place to make and see world-class art.

Our exhibition programme is reliant on the support of trust and foundations to enable us to achieve high quality curatorial ambition, quality presentations and provide access to new ideas. Support is vital to our learning programme and our ability to reach new audiences and enable more people to engage with art and creativity.
