Celebrate ART exhibition & showcase as part of the Year of Young People 2018

Please note that this event will take place in Glasgow and not at The Fruitmarket Gallery.

 

An exhibition celebrating the talent and creativity of young people from across Scotland will take place at Maryhill Burgh Halls in Glasgow over the weekend of 24/25 November, as part of Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018.

The FREE exhibition will be opened on Saturday 24 November by award-winning Scottish artist, Jacqueline Donachie, and it will be open to the public on both Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 4pm

Celebrate ART is a project developed by young people and 5 partner organisations for the Year of Young People 2018. The partners are:

  • Engage Scotland, the National Association for Gallery Education
  • The Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh
  • The John Byrne Award
  • Templar Arts & Leisure Centre, Tarbert, Argyll
  • Tramway, Glasgow

Through Celebrate ART groups of young people have worked with artists at partner venues to co-produce a series of artworks. The exhibition in Glasgow at Maryhill Burgh Halls on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November will be the first time that the young people from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Tarbert and beyond have exhibited their artwork together.

Artwork produced by young people from all three gallery partners involved will be on show, including a performance developed by the young people working with the Fruitmarket Gallery.

Theatre is Life as Spectacle: Art Party

Explore the gallery after hours in an evening of music, performance and expanded cinema responding to Tacita Dean’s work and practice. Curated by Fresh Fruit, in collaboration with artist Lydia Beilby of Screen Bandita.

Fresh Fruit is a programme for young people aged 16–25 to work together and with artists to explore new ideas and make and share art.
