A Performance of Light and Dark
Making Matters: Garcia Family Foundation Schools’ Programme
Friday 5, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 October 2018
The Fruitmarket Gallery is proud to present A Performance of Light and Dark, an exhibition of art made by pupils from six local primary, secondary and special schools.
The exhibition includes work made by young people from Drummond Community High School, Pilrig Park School, Prospect Bank School, Royal Mile Primary School, St Mary’s RC Primary School and St Thomas of Aquin’s RC High School. Working with artists Lydia Beilby, Louise Fraser and Sean Young, the pupils explored ideas inspired by the British-European artist Tacita Dean whose work was on show at The Fruitmarket Gallery from July to September this year.
A celebration of the creativity of 85 young people aged seven to seventeen, the exhibition includes digital and 16mm film, polaroid photography, cyanotypes, sound and installation art.
Now in its third year, we are grateful to have received funding from the Garcia Family Foundation to support this schools learning programme.
With thanks to Callum Innes, Artist Patron; Greyfriars Art Shop; and The City of Edinburgh Council.
