Sun 2 Jun, 10.30am–12.30pm. £22 + booking fee. Book via Eventbrite
This workshop takes a side-step from traditional block printing, replacing the print block with a wooden sandal and walking or dancing your design across the fabric. Participants will use body weight to transfer the ink to the cloth rather than the conventional mallet. You will design print-block sandals, use them to create repeat patterns and print a length of fabric that can be finished as a simple cushion cover. Organic cotton and Soil Association approved inks will be provided along with tools and materials to make the print-blocks.

The Circular Economy addresses this question through key principles that include designing out waste and using renewable sources of energy. This workshop looks at what the CE is and why it is important before moving onto a design challenge, stimulating thinking about solutions to current resource and waste problems. The workshop will be run by Mary Michel, Co-Founder of Ostrero. Mary is also Director of the Incorporation of Goldsmiths and Vice Chair of Craft Scotland.
