Creative Connections
Programme for primary schools

For the next three years, we will be working closely with six primary schools in south Edinburgh to deliver Creative Connections, involving Primary 5 to Primary 7 classes at St. Catherine’s R.C., Craigour Park, Gilmerton, Gracemount, Liberton and Prestonfield Primary.

Each class will have multiple trips to Fruitmarket over the next year, and each school has been paired with an artist-in-residence and who will visit regularly, developing a range of arts activities with pupils and teachers in and outside of the classroom.

This project has been made possible with funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

Early years and families

Fruitmarket hosts creative artist-led events for children aged 0-12 and their adults, from multi-sensory large-scale events in our Warehouse, to loose-parts, messy play in our dedicated Learning Studio.

These usually book up far in advance. Please follow our social media and join our mailing list to be the first to hear about what’s coming up.

Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity Partnership

At Fruitmarket we want to make art accessible for everyone. We’ve partnered with Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (ECHC) to bring enjoyable, creative activities to young people in their care, and their families.

In the last year we have:

· Provided art resource packs containing fun materials and activity sheets.

· Facilitated quarterly artist-in-residence days in the wards for young people, providing the opportunity for 1 to 1 engagement with a professional artist.

· Hosted a relaxing, creative away-day for ECHC staff in our Fruitmarket Learning Studio.

This partnership programme is kindly funded by Gail and Lindsay Gardiner.
