Open Out 2017
13.06.17 – 18.06.17
Fruitmarket opened out to other art forms during a week of performance, film, and music. The week started with History History History, a work that used performance and live-narrated documentary film to explore the relationship between political and personal history. Midweek, Fruitmarket became a screening room for artists’ film; then cellist Abby Hayward performed a new programme for cello and electronics. Friday saw the first pop up by Avalanche Records – The Only Fun In Town – a history of Scottish pop, showcasing rarities, memorabilia and music which ran all weekend. On Saturday we were joined by record label Triassic Tusk for an evening of live music from label mates – King Creosote, River of Slime, Jo Foster, and Lomond Campbell. We closed the week with Paradise Palms, who took over the Gallery for a playful, fun filled closing party.
