Leonard McComb: Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture

26.05.84 – 23.06.84

Exhibition of work by English painter and sculptor Leonard McComb. Until 1975, McComb regularly destroyed examples of his work that did not meet his exacting standards, making this exhibition one of the first opportunities to see a large body of his paintings, drawings and sculpture. The exhibition included his ‘Portrait of a Young Man Standing’ (1963–83), now in the Tate collection. This was the first exhibition under the directorship of Mark Francis.

The exhibition was organised by the Arts Council of Great Britain and travelled from the Serpentine (London) and on to the Museum of Modern Art (Oxford).
