Thu 25 May, 6.30–7.30pm, £5 (conc. £4). Book via Eventbrite
The collection of the Museum of Musical Instruments in Edinburgh University includes some curious instruments named after their self-aggrandising inventors. This concert sees musicians from Red Note Ensemble give these show-offs a chance to be played, echoing artist Mark Wallinger’s exploration of ego in The Fruitmarket Gallery’s current exhibition.
We will hear solo music for each new-fangled instrument followed by a commission from fearless composer Jim Sutherland, specially written to bring these big personalities together.
