Product Information
All information about books and other products available through the website is believed to be correct at the time of publication. Information is gathered from publishers, authors, artists, galleries or the books themselves. Editorial opinions offered are those of the Bookshop Manager and not of The Fruitmarket Gallery. Books and products selected for the website are chosen entirely by the Bookshop Manager in conjunction with gallery and bookshop staff. Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the description, price and availability of products offered for sale (see below). Should you notice an error or omission please inform the bookshop.
Price and Availability
Every effort is made to keep the prices quoted from our records as accurate as possible, but please be aware that suppliers can sometimes vary their prices from those listed.
For each item, the site provides an estimate of its availability based on regularly updated information.
- Coming Soon - means that the item has not yet been released, but may still be available to order.
- In Stock means we have stock of the item.
- 7 - 14 days means that our supplier is temporarily out of stock of your chosen item, but that it is expected to be back in stock shortly.
- Temporarily Unavailable means that the item is available, but our supplier is out of stock.
- Sold Out means that the item is no longer available from The Fruitmarket Gallery.
If you need your item for a particular date (e.g. birthday, essay deadline etc.) then we would advise you to order in plenty of time (about 2 weeks in advance), add a note to your order or contact us directly - we will be pleased to help.
Please note that limited edition artists’ prints and multiples are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. In the unlikely event that we sell-out before our website can be updated we will offer an apology and a full refund but will have to refuse to fulfil the order given the limited availability of the product.
Orders are executed within 5 days so cancellations are possible if you get in touch immediately. If you do find you have made a mistake please contact us immediately so that we can try to intercept your order. In the event that you should decide to cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible, quoting your name and order reference number.
If an item is faulty or if we have made a mistake we will be happy to offer a refund, an exchange or a credit note. If you wish to return goods for any other reason please contact us. You can return any item to us in its original condition within 30 days of the date you received the item. By law, customers in the European Union also have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within seven working days of the day after the date the item is delivered. To cancel your purchase within the seven-working-day cooling-off period, please contact us to inform us of your decision, package the relevant item(s) securely and send it to us so that we receive it within seven working days of the day after the date that the item was delivered to you. For your protection, we recommend that you use a recorded-delivery service if the value of the return is more than 50 GBP. In these instances the customer is liable for any return postage/shipping costs.
Delivery Times
Please allow 7 days for books that show as In-stock. Please allow 7 days for unframed prints of limited editions. Please allow up to 28 days for framed prints or limited editions as framing may be required. We endeavour to inform customers of how long this is likely to take. Please email us if you need delivery in-time for a specific date or celebration.
We use the most economic form of delivery available, considering speed and cost to the customer. In the UK usually Royal Mail or TNT for high-value goods e.g. prints. For European, U.S. and other overseas shipments we use either TNT or Fedex, depending on your location and speed of delivery required. All TNT and Fedex shipments have a tracking number, allowing us to track your goods in transit. We will inform you of despatch and of expected delivery date. Please note that glass is not insured in transit. We make every attempt to package all good securely and have never had issues with damage in the past. Sometimes we re-use packaging when sending books to customers. We believe that this is better for the environment and saves money. If for any reason you would like us to use brand new packaging please email to inform us. We will let you know if any additional charges will be incurred in such instances.
The Fruitmarket Gallery will never share any of your personal information (your address, email, phone number, etc) with any third party (meaning any person or organisation not connected to the gallery). Your information will only be used for the purpose of processing your orders and contacting you about your orders. If you have given us permission to contact you for other purposes, you may also receive emails about gallery news, events and information.
